Donovan Lee McDonald arrived into the loving arms of eager parents Roglenda McDonald and Bobby McDonald in Seattle, Washington on March 17, 2000. Oldest brother and protector. He attended with his family, New Beginnings Christian Fellowship under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Leslie Braxton. Donovan was baptized on September 18, 2011. Monday morning January 6, 2020, he parted this life and into the Lords care.
Donovan attended Seattle Public Schools, ORCA K-8, Mercer Middle School and graduated from Cleveland High School Class of 2018. He then went on to successfully complete the Pre-Apprentice Construction Training Program at Seattle Colleges’ Wood Technology Center. There he received special recognition when he accepted the “Most Improved Award”. Shortly after graduation, Donovan became employed by Jansen Construction Incorporated, working as a Cement Mason.
Growing up, Donovan loved playing sports. In elementary school, he played baseball in the catcher and centerfield positions. In high school, Donovan joined the wrestling team and played linebacker in football. With a passion, Donovan loved video games and even considered himself an avid gamer. He was extremely competitive but vowed to be his sisters team member while playing Fortnite, never the opponent. He loved playing basketball with his little brother Malcolm in the backyard of their grandparent’s house. As a toddler, Donovan would be shadowing close by the side of Grampy Reid. Donovan also enjoyed going fishing with Grampy Reid and Granddad McDonald during the summers and school breaks. On regular visits, he found pleasure just being in his grandparents presence taking care of simple tasks of mowing the yard and caring for the garden. As a child, Donovan spent the best summer days in the backyard of granny and granddad McDonald’s home.
Donovan is preceded in death by his uncle; Lonnie Reid Jr. and leaves to cherish his memories, father, Bobby McDonald, mother, Roglenda McDonald, brother Malcolm McDonald sister, Samara
McDonald. He also leaves his proud and loving grandparents Eddie Lee and Alfreda McDonald, Lonnie Sr. and Ruby Reid. Aunts and uncles, Gregory “Leon” Ezell, Brenda Ezell, Curtis Ezell Jr., Violet Ezell, Patricia Ann Hopkins, Curtis Hopkins, Uncle, Sean McDonald, Roshunda Reid and Trina Reid. Special cousin near his heart, Brianna Smith. Donovan also leaves a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, amazing and loving cousins, friends as well as his God-parents, Clarence and Margaret Garrett to cherish his memories.
