Dr. Sarah Lucille Hendrix was born May 20, 1943 in Arlington, Tennessee to the union of the late Booker and Pearlie (Olden) Dodson, Sr. She was the only live birth girl of 5.
Lucille, as she was affectionately called graduated from Barret’s Chapel High School in Arlington, Tennessee. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee under the leadership of the late Reverend J.F. Collins. She answered God’s call on September 26, 2019.
Lucille moved to Seattle, Washington in 1962 where she married Joseph Mason, Sr. to this union 3 children were born, Joseph Jr., Vincent and Cyrelle. She later married Frank Hendrix which preceeded in death in January 1986.
Lucille attended the A.L. Hardy Academy for 4 years where she earned her Doctorate in Religious Education. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Cecil Dodson, Sr., her brother; and remained faithful under the leadership Rev. Martin Dodson, her nephew. Lucille was a worker for God there was no project too big or too small for her to conquer.
In addition to her parents, Booker and Pearlie Dodson, Sr. Lucille was preceded in death by her son Joseph, Jr. brothers Booker Sr., Charles, Cecil and Harry.
Lucille leaves to mourn her passing daughter Cyrelle and son Vincent. 4 grandchildren Damedra (Rell), Michael, Derrick, Eushanda. 5 great grandchildren Nestor, La’Rel, Alexis, Mashalea, Amayah and a host of nieces, nephews, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Family and many friends.
Lucille was the last of the Dodson clan elders. We are comforted knowing they are celebrating with the King
