Gene Washington, Sr

Gene Washington, Sr. was born in New Orleans, LA. on November 26, 1948. Gene was the 2nd child born to the union of the late William & Susie Washington. Gene spent his child hood and early adult life in New Orleans where he attended the Orleans school district. In 1974 he moved to Seattle, Washington where he settled in and worked for the Sanitation Dept. for many years.

Gene loved to make people laugh, cooking& cleaning. During his life in Seattle he gained countless additional family members, as he never met a stranger. Gene was a dreamer. He was always motivated to show anyone who told him “you can’t”, that indeed – he could. While some may describe him as stubborn, I would call him determined. Gene always spent his time planning for hisnext big thing, now – he’s planningour next big thing, from above.

Gene is predeceased in death by his Father William Washington, Mother Susie Washington, Brother John Patton Sr., Brother James Patton, and Sister Janet (Washington) Hendricks.

Gene is survived by his Daughter Rita (Dean) Morgan, Son Gene Washington Jr., Brother Josh Washington, 5 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren all of New Orleans, Step-Son Jermaine Wilson of Seattle and a host of nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces/nephews in Washington, Louisiana, & Texas.

“Uncle” Gene will be lovingly remembered by Nephews Monroe (Lailani) Jones, Clyde Tolliver. Nieces Heather Tolliver, Arlena Lee, Zisha (Derek) McCollum, Thulin Tolliver, close friend Kathy and all who knew & loved him.

Visitation: noon until time of service at 1pm Sat. May 4 at Seed of Abraham 246 Wells Ave N in Renton.
