Johnny Vaughn Obituary

Johnny Ray Vaughn was born on December 10, 1944 in Mineola Texas to Johnny and Lula Mae Vaughn (who has preceded him).

Johnny graduated from McFarland High School in 1962, and at the age of 19yrs he enlisted into the   (USAF) where he served as an Aircraft Jet Engine Mechanic retiring at the Rank of TSGT after 20yrs of service in 1984.  During his time in the USAF Johnny was able to travel around the world, meeting people of different cultures and experiencing different ways of life which is what he always wanted to do.

Johnny loved doing things with his hands and god blessed him with the skills of a craftsman who could build and repair just about anything that he put his mind to.  As far as the family was concern, he was the “Go to Guy” and all-around handyman who you could count on.

Johnny loved the Lord and would often use quotes from the Bible to encourage, inspire and/or straighten up family members and others who seek out his advice and/or support.

Johnny loved all his family members (here and a far), devoting his time to giving and helping all of them, especially the grandchildren, to whom he was known as “Poppie”.

Following his retirement from the USAF, Johnny Ray Vaughn return to Seattle, WA where he and his wife Carolyn settle down.  He obtained a position with Verizon Wireless Communication until he retired in 2010.

Johnny Ray Vaughn is survived by his Wife; Carolyn Vaughn, Daughter’s; Twanya Vaughn-McGruder, Renee Vaughn, Selena Vaughn and Mechele Vaughn and Sharon Smith-Reed.  Sister; Billie Frances, Nieces; Sheila Stephens, Leitha Vaughn, Elaine Tuck, and was preceded in death by Mrs. Sheila Vaughn-Walker (Daughter) and Mr. Robyn Vaughn (Son).

The lord called Johnny Ray Vaughn home on November 4, 2019, where he was surrounded by his family and a good friend Franklyn Smith (Sonny Boy).  Johnny was a member of Southside Church of Christ and will be deeply missed by all his family members and friends.  May he rest in peace until we see him on the other side.
