Robert Green Obituary

Robert Lee Green was born on November 22, 1942 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Fred and Ursie Lee Green. They later relocated to Seattle in 1948. In Seattle he attended Seattle Public Schools and graduated from Garfield High School in 1962.

Robert loved music and was a great keyboard and organ player. He started many bands throughout the Seattle area beginning in Junior High School. Robert would gladly let people know that: “Jimi Hendrix played in MY Band”. Robert played with many great musicians, such as Jimi Hendrix, Parnell Alexander, Anthony Atherton, Luther Rabb (who later went on to play with the band WARR), Lester Eckano, Walter Harris, Junior Heath, Webb Lofton, Charles Woodberry, Manual Stanton, Curtis Samuel, and Sammy Drain. He often sat in and played for the Dave Lewis Trio.

After graduating from High School, Robert married his high school sweetheart Euna, who he met their junior year. They were married January 23, 1962. To this union three children were born, Rodney, Cassaundra “K.K.”, Derrick, and he reared his first cousin, since she was 11, Cassandra Cross.

He enlisted in the United States Army, and served from 1962-1967. He served in the Vietnam War, and was stationed in many cities throughout the U.S., as well as Manheim, Germany. After returning back to Seattle from Germany, he began his career as a Journeyman Electrician with IBEW Local 46, retiring after 30 years of service.

Robert was a member of First A.M.E. Church. He was always proud of being appointed a Steward by the late Rev. James H. Oxley. He later became a faithful member of Fame Choir and served until his health declined. Robert loved the Prince Hall Masonic Order. He was a member of Hercules Lodge #17, Queen of Sheba Chapter #12-O.E.S., and Beni Hassan Temple #64-A.E.A.O.N.M.S.

Robert was the only child and was preceded in death by both of his parents. He leaves to mourn, his wife of 56 years, Euna Green; four children, Rodney Green, Cassaundra “K.K.” Green, Derrick Green and Cassandra Cross. Six grandchildren, Demontrice (Shetara) Bigham, Marquia Jones, Markell Jones, Edvon Moon, Jazariana Robinson, and Tacory Birdsall. Two great-grandchildren, Jase Denee’ Bigham and Demi Sage Bigham; a special nephew, Stevie Craig Lowe; sister-in-law, Freddie Faye Lowe; and brother–in-law, Richard (Althea) Lowe; best friend, Roy Wells; and a host of many relatives and friends.
