Virginia Sue “Ginny” Matheson was born in Seattle on Nov. 22, 1948 to Katherine and Robert Matheson. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 15, 2019. Ginny grew up in Medina and lived most of her life in the Seattle area. She was a graduate of Bellevue High School (1967) and Antioch University (1995). She had an exceptional career in Human Resources Leadership, having been the HR Director at Seattle Theatre Group, Seattle Symphony, and Pacific Science Center, among other places. Ginny was a terrific cook and hosted wonderful gatherings full of laughter and great food. She had many artistic talents including creating painted furniture, knitting beautiful pieces for herself and others, building lovely gardens, and most recently found her calling in mosaic arts. She was a voracious reader and talented poet. She was married to Lewis H. Gray, Jr. from 1969-78, and was proud to raise their daughter Libby, who became an accomplished flutist and IT professional. Ginny touched many lives with her intelligence, humor, and generosity, and was a loyal friend who always gave wise counsel. She was so funny and loved to laugh. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Gray of Lake Forest Park, sisters Marganne Clay of Hansville and Barbara (Roy) Cameron of Seattle, and a few nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Bob Matheson.
