Ada Carter Obituary

Our Beloved Ada Lenora Carter; was peacefully called home to glory on December 7, 2020.

Ada was born in Bastrop, Louisiana on April 5th, 1939 to the union of F.C. Prosper Smith Sr. and Rosie Lee Smith. She was the sixth born of nine children. Ada graduated from Monterey High in 1955 at the age of 16 in Monterey, California. Ada relocated to Seattle, Washington in the late 50’s to pursue a higher education and career opportunities. She graduated with a Business Degree from Bellevue College. In the late 50’s; Ada met and married her helpmate Alphonse Carter, and they started their family.

Ada began her career at Fredrick and Nelson where she would retire after 20 years. She came out of retirement to continue her career in customer service where she worked up until she retired in 2012 from Safeway.

Ada was full of life and fire. She exuded confidence and sass. Her name was truly who she was; Authentic. Direct. & Alluring. Ada was known for her glamorous classy style. Like her favorite color red, she was full of passion and she always attracted attention.

Ada was passionate about her family and friends. Always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Ada was truly blessed with the gift of baking. All her creations were highly favored and highly desired by many.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents F.C. Prosper Smith Sr. and Rosie Lee Smith, Alphonse Carter (husband), Helen Smith (daughter), Lee Edward, Jerry K. Smith, and W.C. Smith (brothers) and Savannah Parker (sister).

Ada is survived by: Virdie Smith, F.C. Smith Jr. (brothers), Rosie Marie Smith, Earnie Mae Berton (sisters): Her children; Willie DeWayne Smith, Pamela Artison and Nature Carter-Gooding (Charles Gooding; Son In-Law): Her grandchildren; Raymond Brown, Rayona Williams, Vera Artison, Delorean Smith, Tytionna Carter, Bentley Artison, Karrea Brooks, Elijah Whaley, Jamahl Smith, Emmanuel Smith and 9 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Due to Covid-19 Restrictions, The family will have walk-through viewing service on Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 1pm-3pm at Serenity Personal Alternative Chapel, 749 Central Avenue North Kent, WA 98032.
