Andre Davis Obituary

Andre Davis was born on November 12, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. He was the fifth and youngest child born to the union of George Davis and Odessa (Walker) Davis.  He passed from this life to eternity on February 28, 2025.

Andre grew up in the Yesler Terrace and was better known to many by the name “Slug” or “Pooka.”  He attended Seattle Public Schools.

Andre was extremely proud of all his nephews and nieces, and loved to pick them up from bus stops, take them to parks, go to restaurants, and take them fishing. The joy he experienced during these precious moments was apparent, displayed by his tremendous smile and infectious laugh.

He had a great sense of humor and prided himself in dressing well!  He was also an avid sports fan and while he enjoyed sports in general, basketball was his favorite pastime. His favorite players were the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the L.A. Lakers (of whom he patterned his own amazing hook shot) and Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell.

Andre was preceded in death by his parents, George and Odessa Davis, and his sister Gloree Davis.

He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Inez (Peggy) Plante-Davis, Larry Davis, and Brenda Fontenot; ten nephews & nieces and a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends.

The family extends a special thank you to family members Vernell Hennings and CDell Johnson for the bonding & care showed to Andre throughout his lifetime.

Andre’s final resting place will be in Louisiana next to his mom.
