Arthur L Banks Sr. was born on June 20, 1949, in Seattle, Washington, and he passed away on November 25, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, WA. The last two months of his life were spent at St. Joseph Hospital, surrounded by his wife AnnMarie and loving family. Arthur peacefully left this world, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
Throughout his life, Arthur was a dedicated, hardworking individual who found great joy in the field of painting. With skillful hands and a steadfast work ethic, he contributed to numerous projects, leaving behind his work on many buildings in his community. His passion for his painting was matched only by his love for barbecuing. He specialized in creating his own signature BBQ sauce, Artie B’s, a secret recipe that brought immense joy to family gatherings and social events. His delicious creations became synonymous with love and togetherness, embodying the warmth and affection he shared with his loved ones.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Arthur’s true calling was working with the children at Garfield Community Center, Yesler Community Center, and the Boys and Girls Club. Whether it was providing guidance and support or simply lending an empathetic ear, he had an incredible ability to connect with young minds. His contagious enthusiasm and genuine care touched the lives of countless children, helping them overcome challenges and unlock their true potential. Arthur's legacy will forever be etched in their hearts.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife, AnnMarie Banks; two daughters, Catreena Williams and Emily Murphy (Harold); and two sons, Arthur L. Banks Jr. and Parys Fox. We would be amiss not to mention his honorary children, Octavia Moore, Carneisha Grace, and Zacala Packard, along with a host of other children that he fostered and loved as his own. His parents, siblings, and one grandson all preceded him in death. He was “Big Daddy” to thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
As we bid farewell to Arthur Leroy Banks Sr, may his soul find eternal peace, and may his love and spirit continue to inspire us all to make a positive impact in the lives of others, just as he did with unwavering dedication and boundless compassion.
