OBITUARY OF Becky Rene’ Brown

On January 25, 1958 Becky Rene’ Brown was born to the Union of Shirley G. Brown and William Brown.  Becky was the fourth living child, of five children, born of their Union.

Becky Rene’ Brown grew up in the Beacon Hill area of Seattle Washington. She attended Asa Mercer Junior High School.  During her teenage years, Becky went to Bakersfield, California to stay with her Grandfather Bobrie L. Ward.  During her time in Bakersfield, Becky attended school there with her Aunt Sandra.  Becky became close with her family there as well as connected with new friends.  Becky Graduated from Cleveland High School.  While in High School (late 1975/early 1976), Becky began a relationship with Morgan Lawrence and during their relationship, daughter “Linda La’Nese Brown” was born. In 1994, Becky met Jerry Thomas and during their relationship, son “Isaiah Preston Thomas” was born.  Becky was very proud of both her children, Linda and Isaiah, wanting the best for them in this life. Becky is also the proud Grandmother of Isaiah’s son “Azai”, who melted her heart each time she held him in her arms.

Becky Rene’ Brown held several interesting positions within the workforce.  She worked as an Assistant in a local Ophthalmology Clinic.  She held positions as a Receptionist for a local Law Firm for several years; and as a Dispatch Operator for the Yellow Cab Company. She also worked intake for AARP and most recently assisted within a Women’s Shelter.  Becky volunteered with Daycare and the Food Bank at “The Church at South Seattle” under direction of Pastor Emma Jones.

Becky Rene’ Brown was re-acquainted with her Junior High “Crush” Michael Barker in recent years. They both really enjoyed fishing.  Fishing supplied Becky with one of her favorite meals, “Catfish and Greens.” She also embraced African food and Culture. Becky and Michael loved to play Bingo and were sometimes lucky at the game. Becky and Michael remained in a committed relationship until her passing on January 3, 2026.  Becky was also the best at playing Dominoes, Checkers & more.

Becky Rene’ Brown is preceded in death by her father William Brown, Grandparents Gertrude L. Ward and Bobrie L. Ward, McKinley Brown and Ida Belle Ford, along with two siblings, Linda and Martin who passed shortly after birth and Brother-in-Law Maurice Blacknall Sr.  Becky’s “grand dog Doc”, who was Linda La’Nese’s baby dog/heart also recently passed.

Becky Rene’ Brown is survived by her Mother Shirley G. Jacobs, Children: Linda L. Brown and Isaiah P. Thomas.  Grandson: Azai Thomas.  Siblings: Sharon DeVoe (Raymond), William G. Brown, Willa (Brown) Blacknall, and Peggy L. Brown. Becky loved family and is survived by a Host of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
