On September 24, 1941 an awesome, powerful and merciful God allowed Melvin S. Richardson and JoEthel Strawther Richardson to give birth and parent their sixth child in Greenville, Mississippi. Being a creative, artistic, and intuitive child, Beverly Joe spent his early childhood finding ways to make something new from something old. This young body was an old soul as he learned from elders in his family and community. Beverly was an exceptional child. He assisted older family members with daily chores, except taking care of their large farm animals, he was afraid of them. He also spent his spare time drawing, designing and reading.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church by Rev. John Redmond. He glorified God. He sang, went to Sunday School and was active in the Baptist Training Union (BTU). Beverly’s formal education began at Sacred Heart Catholic School, Julia L. Armstrong Elementary School and Colman High School. At Colman, he became interested in building trades and assisted in building a three bedroom home. He later enrolled in art school and attended Carpentry classes. Moving to Oakland, CA in 1961, allowed him an opportunity to refine his career in Carpentry. More classes and work solidified his ability to become more skillful.
Beverly later moved to Seattle in 1962 and continued working in his area of emphasis. He worked for Boeing Aircraft Company as a Mockup Specialist, and later was hired as a Master Carpenter for United States Postal Services. He trained others how to improve their skills in Carpentry. Being extremely precise he received many awards and accolades as he perfected his trade. He served in the military in California and Georgia. He was stationed at Fort Ord and Fort Bennings. In 1966 Beverly met and married Carrie Pearson. In 1968, Beverly and Carrie joined Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Baverly A. Taylor. He also served under Pastor Darden, Henderson, and Robert L. Manaway Sr. He worshiped with Voice of Tabernacle (VOT) and sharing God’s word. Beverly served as a Deacon from 1987 through the fall of 2009, prior to being ordained as an Elder on September 13, 2009. He was elevated to Emeritus status on March 17, 2019. Beverly is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Melvin, Presley, Mandolyn, and LeeAutry and Sisters; Anita, Valeria and Gail. He leaves to mourn his memory, wife Carrie, children; Henri (Nikisha) and Krishna (Michael). Rae Anne is another daughter. Their grandchildren are; Vonchae, Audae, Ajhanae, Nikeari, Brandon, Michael II, Ronald, and Alayna and greatgrands are; Kamiah, Romaun, Vonchae II, Mi’king, Nasir, Royale, Kamdyn, Majesty, Nariah, Isaiah, Niyomi, Nevaeh, Nayaire, Sterling and Stella; his sisters; Doris, Mavis, Quilla and Evelyn, Aunt Louis; sister and brothers-inlaws; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
