On December 3, 1952 in Seattle, Washington James Landon Harper Sr. and Margaret Goodman were blessed by God with a precious gift, a girl that they named Carolyn. Carolyn left this life on April 14, 2019. Carolyn was preceded in death by her Father James Landon Harper Sr., her Brothers Oliezine (Charles) Thompson and Cameron Harper.
Carolyn attended public school at T.T. Minor Elementary, Washington Jr. High and Lincoln High schools. During her high school years her teachers considered Carolyn “Special. “ She later went on to attend Seattle Central Community College and Seattle University.
When Carolyn was very young she was very outgoing, very outspoken and even rebellious at times. However, Carolyn has always had people skills and everyone that came in contact with her loved her. Carolyn had a true Heart of gold and could speak to anybody. She could walk in a room full of strangers and before the day was over everyone would know Carolyn.
In 1968 Carolyn became an employee of Sears Roebuck, where she worked in the warehouse until 1970. She went on to work for the Federal Government with the office of Civil Service Commission, U.S. Department of the Interior, The Office of Oil and Allocation, The U.S. Department of Energy and The U.S. State Department. Carolyn’s government career spanned over 28 years of service. She later went on to private industry working for Indian Arts and Crafts for 6 years as a Supervisor.
In 1996 Carolyn allowed Christ again into her life and became a member of the Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church where she served faithfully as Community Services Director, Usher, and Social Committee Leader. She also served as leader of the Beautification Committee, and she was quick to tell you about the floor tiles that were installed in the fellowship hall under her stewardship. Carolyn loved her church family and her church family loved her. When Carolyn came to church she always brought food, especially deserts, such as her yellow cakes, her famous “chocolate Sin” cake and her 5 layer “real” banana pudding. If you didn’t have anywhere to go after church you could always go to Carolyn and Louis’s House. Carolyn will always be remembered for her great hospitality. Carolyn will be missed by all who knew her. Her greatest desires were for her family stay close together and support each other.
An avid RV’er, Carolyn sends a loving farewell to the Heaven Bound Travelers' RV Club. She also leaves a shout out to “the Good Ol’ Girls,” who always had her back.
Carolyn leaves behind her Husband and Best Friend Louis J.
