Darlene Washington Obituary

 

Mother Darlene Washington was Born April 16, 1952 in Okmulgee, OK to the union of Clarence and Evelyn Smith.

Upon relocating to Seattle, WA, she attended Seattle Public Schools, graduating from Garfield High School.

Darlene worked at Harborview Medical Center and Virginia Mason Hospital as a Patient Services Specialist.  She also worked as an Individual Health Care Provider.

She loved to travel, play bingo and shop thrift stores for treasure.

In 2012 Darlene united with the Beacon Hill First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Calvin B. May.  She was a faithful, and dedicated member who possessed a loving spirit and a willingness to serve whenever and wherever needed.  She served faithfully as a member of the Mother’s Ministry and was known for her calm, soft spoken spirit and winning smile.   She was a kindhearted, loving Child of God and will be extremely missed by the Beacon Hill Church Family.

Mother Washington loved her Pastor and Church Family.  She was a giver  of her time and resources.  She spearheaded the publishing of the Beacon Hill First Baptist Church Cookbook which was as a successful fund-raiser for the refurbishing of the church.  She had a calm and loving spirit with an  infectious smile. 

She was preceded in passing by both parents, Clarence and Evelyn Smith; and one son; Emmanuel Washington (EJ).

She is survived by her son Seven Washington, and stepson Deville Handy; two sisters, Shirley Rucker and Edna Smith; two brothers, George and Charles Smith; Six grandchildren, Emmanuel D. Washington; Princess L. Bonwell; Tobias S. Washington; Jordan J. L. Washington; Jceon C. O. Washington; and Sherrlynn A. Washington; one great-grandchild, Emanuel Washington; other nieces, nephews, her church family and friends.
