Deacon Charles Brown, Jr. Obituary

Charles Brown Jr was born on September 25, 1939 in Okohowa, Arkansas, the son of the late Mr. Charles Brown Sr. and Mrs. Eldora Brown. He entered the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 31, 2020.

A beloved member of the Central District community and the patriarch of the Brown’s family. Charles enjoyed spending quality time with loved ones and friends watching and talking about sports. After many years of stellar service Charles retired from the Washington State Ferry system. It is on record that Charles was the 3rd African American to retire from Washington State Ferry System. He was a proud and beloved member of New Direction Missionary Baptist Church led by Pastor Matthew Thornton. When Charles retired, he spent his time at his church helping out and making repairs. He loved his pastor and congregation.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Anzella Brown; siblings, Queen Ola Washington and Leon Brown; son, Charles Brown III; and grandson, Ronnie Brown. He is survived by his children, Margaret Yaya, Robin, Victoria (Smiley), Terrell and Lovell; and grandchildren, Leeza, Brandon, Jessica, Antione, Tea’launna, Clarence, Omar, Charles IV, Deon, Chanieka, Victorie, Alicia, Terrell Jr, Jordan, Jazel, Alana, and Ava. As well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
