Dennis David Jr. was born on September 22, 1936 in Ames, Texas to Dennier David and Annie Mae White-David. He was their fourth child and their first-born son.
Dennis was baptized at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Liberty, Texas, where he grew in faith and made his First Holy Communion, his Confirmation, and where he also served as an altar boy. He attended Our Mother of Mercy School and Liberty Training High School. Throughout his youth, Dennis was a loyal and devoted son who worked hard to help his parents provide for the family.
In 1954, Dennis moved with the family from Liberty to Seattle, Washington. He met and married Ruby Isom in 1967. Later, they became the proud parents of DeAndrea David, and together they raised their two children, DeAndrea David and Derric Nonetta.
Dennis retired from his job as a foreman at the Acme Poultry Company after being employed there for more than fifty years. He was a loyal parishioner at Saint Therese’s Parish for several decades, attending Mass regularly, until he became incapacitated a few short years ago.
Dennis was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers. He loved walking by Lake Washington, visiting the Seattle Public Market, gardening, watching the rodeo and sports on TV. He was a self-taught guitar player and harmonica player, and he loved listening to and playing the blues. He had an amazing sense of humor, often regaling his family and friends with his stories, jokes and bringing everyone so much joy and laughter. Above all, Dennis loved all of his family members!
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ruby David, his father, Dennier David, his mother, Annie Mae White-David, his beloved grandson Jaquer Patrick-Elijah Baker, his siblings; Rolland David, Edward David, Andrew David, Michael David, Rose Mary Neals, Audrey Washington, and four infant siblings.
He is survived by his children, De Andrea David-Taylor and Derric Nonetta, his grandsons Jamar Patrick Peeler-Baker, Josiah Dennis-James Taylor, great grandsons Elijah Dennis James Baker and Amir Dennis James Baker, and siblings; Mary Ann Thibodeaux, Margaret Nichols, Beatrice Sledge, and Cynthia Tippens as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, family and friends.
We are all grateful to God for the time He allowed Dennis into our lives. We will forever treasure his memory, and he will be deeply missed.
