Dorothy V. Foster

December 12, 1948 ~ December 7, 2020 (age 71)

Obituary

Dorothy Vivian Foster was born December 12, 1948 to BillieJean Harper in Portland, Oregon.  As a child she later moved to Seattle, WA with her mother, brother and two sisters.

Dorothy attended the Seattle Public Schools and later went on to work at Bethlehem Steel in West Seattle laying railroad tracks.  Dorothy worked many years as a nursing assistant employed at several nursing homes around the greater Seattle area. Dorothy’s greatest job of all was serving as caregiver to her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She provided loving care for them before and after school at a time when childcare was not affordable for most.

Like many of us, Dorothy had many struggles in her life but always tried to do the best with what life threw at her. Dorothy loved to cook, and her meals were enjoyed by all.  She also loved to play scratch off tickets and was delighted to win $25,000 on one.

Dorothy was a natural helper always willing to give her last in a time of need. She was full of energy and a joy to be around.  If you knew Dorothy, you knew you would have a good ole time when she was around. One thing everyone knew for sure about Dorothy was that she loved her grandchildren and her 2-month-old great grandson.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother BillieJean Harper, her brother Sammie Burgess (Dora) and sister Madeline Lewis. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories her only surviving sibling Ruth (Tootie) Sarden, her children, BillieJean Hendricks (George, deceased), Koque Foster, Marilyn Williams (Andrew (Blue). Her grandkids Janisha Wright, Jaquila Sparks, Jamie Brown II, Jamazia Brown, DeVaughn Dorsey Jr. (Tracy) and Denali Dukes and great grandson Jamie Brown III; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Dorothy was fuller than life and will be remembered by those who love and cared for her. She will be greatly missed by us all.
