Essence Naje “Essey Mae” Greene Madden was born June 11, 2003 in Seattle, WA to parents Ernestine Mae Greene and Eldon Maurice Madden.
As a baby, from the time she could talk, Essence would speak to and hug everyone she met. She was known as “our baby” to her siblings and she brought joy to her entire family.
Essence was an outspoken child who loved to dance. She starting dance at the early age of 5 and starting dancing competitively at the age of 9 with Surge Dance Center.
Essence had a passion for beauty. As a child she loved to play dress up. As a young woman she was introduced to You Tube and perfected her craft in make-up and lashes.
She gave her life to Christ at 7 years old at Restoration Bible Church where she sang with the youth praise team and choir.
Essence was a student at Decatur High School in Federal Way, WA and an alumna of Fife High School in Fife, WA. Essence dreamed of becoming a psychologist or a respiratory therapist.
Essey Mae called everyone she met her best friend. She made friends quickly. She was loyal, goofy and the life of the party. But most importantly, Essence had a forgiving heart.
Her infectious laughter and radiant smile will be profoundly missed. Essence’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
Essence is survived by her parents, Tina and Eldon Madden; her grandparents, Irene and Joe Greene, Sr.; siblings Tanysha, Martique, Dre’ Ante’, Marquesha, Nick, Arianna and Zayla; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends who loved her dearly.
