Ethel was preceded in death by her parents Johnny & Samatha Jenkins, Brothers; Printes, Robert ,James, Joe, Johnben, Sisters: Betty, Patricia, Frankie, Mae, and Son: Ronnie Jenkins
Ethel leaves to cherish her memories of her nine children; Samatha Wooten (Sylvester) Of Washington, Sonya Nichols, of New York, Wanda Nichols, of Texas, James Clarence Nichols, (Phylisha) of Alaska, Clyde Nichols, Bridgett Huff of Washington, Charles Nichols of Alaska, Leo Jenkins of Alaska, Sherry Shariff-Hall (Charles) of Las Vegas, 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and a host of Nieces and nephews relatives and friends.
In 1974, she received Christ at Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the late Elder Jones in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1976, she became a member of Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the late Dr. John H. Turner in Anchorage, Alaska
Mom was a faithful member of her church. Soon after she started noon day prayer “warrior”. Because of her faith and dedication, her pastor appointed her to be Mother of the Church at the tender age of 40. A position she held for many, many years!
Ethel was an exceptional wife, an exceptional mother, and an exceptional friend. She always had a house full. She invited whomever needed a place to stay; she had a place for them. Even if there was no room for anymore...she made room.
Her family was her life. She enjoyed everyone. She really enjoyed her grandkids and her great-grandkids. She loved listening to everyone’s stories.
Some of the funny things mom would say is, “what you do in the dark will come to the light” or when she got mad she would start speaking pig latin, so we could not understand what she was saying. Mom always gave 100% of herself. Growing up she was everybody’s mom, meaning our friends as well.
Mom had 10 kids and could compartmentalize each of them. She was like a vault! You tell her something and it stayed with her. It is hard to think of a word like “patient” and don’t envision mom; as she is an embodiment of that.
You know mom was the kind of person that can hold your secrets, share your pain, and lift your spirits all at the same time. All while you are burdening her with your day, your troubles, your frustrations; she takes it all in! Mom will set aside her pain to listen to you, Leaving you burden free! That is the type of person she was!
Mom loved cooking, gardening, housework, and sewing. She also loved shopping, working puzzles, listening to gospel and enjoyed participating in her entire families lives in whatever capacity that entailed. She was just a wonderful person and is going to be sadly missed by all. What a Legacy she has left!
