Georgia Louise Williams was born on November 6, 1938, in Selma, Alabama to the union of William Bell and Lena Walker.
She attended Saint Elizabeth Catholic School in Selma, Alabama until she began high school. She graduated from R.B. Hudson High School in 1956 and shortly thereafter, married her childhood sweetheart, Abner E. Williams. She became a military wife and travelled nationally and internationally with her husband and family. She resided in Tacoma, Washington for more than 54 years .
Georgia attended Pierce College at Fort Steilacoom, where she studied Accounting. Her work life included working in Accounting at Puget Sound National Bank and Facility Services at Pacific Lutheran University. She retired in 2005. Upon her retirement, she volunteered at Larchmont Elementary School and at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Georgia loved gardening, interior decorating, cooking, reading and music. She especially loved music and her music experience included playing the French horn in high school. She had an amazing sense of humor and always kept those around her looking at the lighter side of life, solidified in her belief that no matter what happened, the Lord was always present.
She was a longstanding and active member of her beloved St. Ann Catholic Church. She volunteered in the Church Office and helped wherever she was needed. It was her faith in Jesus Christ that sustained her and made her a voice that encouraged others to “lean on the Lord without ceasing.” Her faith was paramount in her life and sustained her, especially during her health challenges. One of her favorite biblical scriptures was Psalms 28:7, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I will praise him.”
In the early morning hours of October 18, 2021, the Lord called Georgia to her place of heavenly rest. She leaves many to continue celebrating her life and cherishing her memories: her children, Lena, Michelle, Maurice, and Michael; her sister Trudia Harrell Savage and family of Selma, Alabama; special cousins William “Mane” Edward Mason, Jr. of Selma, Alabama and Julia Roberts of Birmingham, Alabama; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; additional cousins in Youngstown, Ohio, Birmingham, Alabama and Richmond, California.
