Gregory Taylor, Jr. Obituary

Gregory Allen Taylor, Jr. was born on July 17, 1979, in Seattle, Washington to Glenda Cummins and Gregory Allen Taylor I. He attended Rainier View Elementary School, Washington Middle School and Rainier Beach High School, eventually receiving his GED from Seattle Vocational Institute. Gregory also attended and graduated from Renton Vocational Technical College as a certified sheet rock installer and carpenter. He went on to work on several construction projects around the Seattle area during the early 2000s until he suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2006 which left him unable to work.

Greg’s fighting spirit was evident during the 14-year battle he endured as a result of his injuries. His ability to overcome a bevy of dire health diagnosis baffled medical personnel and inspired those that he loved. Even in his illness Greg exemplified courage and determination until his death on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.

Greg’s hobbies and interests included poetry, motorcycles, music and classic cars. Gregory had a relationship with God and was baptized at a young age at First A.M.E. Church in Seattle, WA, where he was an usher and active in the youth department.

Gregory loved his family deeply and would do anything for them. All who knew him understood the care, support, and dependability he provided to those he called family or friend. No matter the circumstance he would be there. He had a wonderful relationship with his uncles and aunts and would frequently call and visit with them just to check up on them. He was affectionately called “Gotham” and “Mysterious” by his cousins. Two of Gregory most noticeable traits were his dimpled smile and intense fits of laughter that often caused him to cry happy tears. His infectious personality, genuine spirit, and loveable nature will be truly missed.

Greg is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, LeQuincey (“Barr”) Cummins, his paternal grandparents James and Virginia Taylor, uncles James and Michael Taylor, and his father, Gregory Allen Taylor I.

He is survived by his son, Gregory Allen Taylor III, his mother, Glenda Faye Cummins, uncle Gary Cummins, maternal grandfather William Cummins, brother Matthew Aaron Taylor, sisters Brittenee Buckner, Tiffanae Buckner, Ajanee Cooper, nephew Malcom Xavier Taylor, several aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
