Helen Elaine Hurry "McDaniel “March 24, 1968 -February 28, 2024

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Elaine Hurry- McDaniel on February 28, 2024. Born on March 24,1968, in Portland, Oregon, to Darlene Barrett and Tommie Harris, raised by Darlene Barrett and Marvin McKinly.

Helen and her mother relocated to Seattle Washington where Helen blossomed and ultimately graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Federal Way WA in 1986.Preceding her in death are her great-grandmother, Rosa Powe, her great-grandfather William Powe, her grandmother, Helen Sterling, her auntee Isabel Parker her grandfather Joseph Dendy her uncle Frederick Dendy, her brother Nikki McKinley Burris, brother Brian McKinley Burris, niece Shamaya Holmes, and her spiritual daughter Vanessa Lopez.

Helen's life was one of profound love and dedication. United in matrimony with Terry Hurry, they

were blessed with two beautiful children, Masie Darlene Hurry and Terrance Arthur Hurry.

Helen's professional journey spanned years in the financial services sector before she pursued her lifelong passion for beauty and became a licensed cosmetologist.

 In 1999, Helen and her children embarked on a transformative journey by moving to Phoenix, Arizona, with her beloved sister, Freedom Pearson, and her nieces and nephew Shamaya, ShamRaya, (AuntieToast) Vincent Jr, and Anthony.        

There, she began a new chapter, earning her certificate as a Holistic Health and Wellness          

Coach. She founded Kiwi's Korner Holistic Healing and Transformational Coaching LLC, dedicating her life to the well-being and enlightenment of others. Helen was a beacon of strength and hope, especially noted for her work with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. As a spokesperson and advocate, she worked tirelessly to educate African American women about breast cancer and the importance of destigmatizing conversations around the disease.

Her spirit, characterized by an infectious laugh and boundless energy, touched everyone she met. Helen's legacy is one of love, courage, and unwavering support for her community. Above all, Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, friend, confidant, and daughter. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.        

She is survived by her mother, Darlene Barrett of Burien WA; her Dad, Marvin McKinly of Kent WA, her children, Masie.D. Hurry of Tempe, AZ, Terrance A. Hurry of Federal Way WA. her grandson, Terrance Hurry Jr.of Federal Way, WA. brother, LaRon Mckinley Burris, brother Darnell McKinly, Elaine Gultry, and Eddie Collins of Portland Oregon including a myriad of friends, family, cousins, and loved ones who feel her loss deeply.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Helen's vibrant spirit, love, and lessons will continue to inspire and guide us.
