In memory of Herb (Herbie) Phelan who passed away February 2, 2020. Herb was born March 6, 1928, and from humble beginnings moved on to serve in the military and pursue an education; first in California, and then in Boston, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Boston University along the way.
After completing his education Herb moved his family from Boston to Seattle and built a successful thirty year career as an engineer at Boeing. As a retiree he remained active as a volunteer at the Museum of Flight and was an integral team member in the refurbishing of the Museum’s B-17 and B-29 airplanes, which are currently on display.
Herb, as a husband, was blessed with four children, twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. He will join his wife, Isabel, at Tahoma National Cemetery, where there will be a service Friday, March 6 at 11:00 AM. For those wanting to attend please show up at least 15 minutes early for the procession.
