 Legendary Musician James Ervin Pipkin Jr. 

James (Jimi) Ervin Pipkin Jr., 82, of Seattle, WA died on May 31, 2022.

He was born on September 27, 1939, to James Ervin Pipkin Sr. and Beatrice Elizabeth Liggins-Pipkin.

James is survived by his wife and love of 65 years, Dorothea Pipkin, their children Mario Pipkin, Monte Pipkin, Bobbi Jean Pipkin, and Habeebulah Pipkin, and his children Kim Pipkin and Kevin Pipkin, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

As a lifelong resident of Seattle, James (Jimi) was a music legend in the Seattle and Los Angeles areas. He was at the forefront of the Doo-Wop era, and was started several chart-topping bands including; The Echos, The Gallahads, and the Boss Five. Continuing his influence on Seattle’s music scene, Jimi was a popular Disk Jockey for Seattle’s historic soul radio station, KYAC under the name Jimi P.

James is preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister Carolyn Jackson, his son Jamil Pipkin, and his beloved granddaughter Tahlonya Pipkin.
