John Savage, III Obituary

John Henry Savage III, affectionately known as “John John,” was born on March 16, 1982 in Tacoma, Washington.

John grew up in the Seattle area and attended Lowell Elementary, Meany Middle School and West Seattle High School. He was very active in his younger years and was encouraged to play a variety of sports, which he “ever so gently” declined. For those of you who don’t know, John did not like to be touched and really didn’t like to get his perfect nails dirty.

John did enjoy shooting hoops one-on-one until a poor soul asked him to share the ball; then he was ready to leave immediately. His heart filled with pure joy, drenching his sisters with his super-soaker water gun, swimming at the neighborhood lakes and pools, riding his bike and running all over town. John also occasionally tolerated being a second Double Dutch turner for his little sisters.

John attended his home church of Curry Temple CME and enjoyed being the time keeper, meaning when he was ready to go, he simply stood up and began clapping and saying, “Amen,” regardless of where they were on the service program. He also made it his mission to check what snacks were available before helping clean or take out the trash and recycling, which he always had to organize because, in his exact words, “John was always right.”

John loved life, and his infectious smile and laugh brightened anyone’s day. He was a brilliant puzzle enthusiast, an excellent swimmer who loved the water, an avid recycler, and loved people watching and shopping at his favorite store, Walgreens. John enjoyed watching Guy Fieri and Bobby Flay on the food channel, attending his Adult Day Programs, coloring, arts and crafts and playing a variety of games.

John has truly left his mark on this world, teaching us all what God’s unconditional love really means. John was himself, unapologetically, and to know him was to love him dearly.

John, thank you for being the biggest blessing to our family. You were loved deeply, and we will miss you until we meet again, Pumpkin. Enjoy running free now.

John leaves behind a large village who cherished him including:
