Juan Gilbert Hood was born in San Bernardino, California, on December 12. 1941, to Arthur (Sr.) and Kate Hood. He was the eldest of five siblings (Arthur Jr. Deceased).
In 1968, Juan moved his family from Los Angeles, California, to Seattle, Washington. And found employment with the Boeing Company. In 1970, he began working at Jorgensen Steel and Aluminum Company as a factory worker, and later retired in 2008.
Juan spent his retirement years doing the things he loved.
Always an avid weightlifter, he continued going to the gym and park. The backyard and recreational areas were his playgrounds, and it was no different in his later years Juan was a loving husband and father, a proud and caring man who cared for the family he loved. His laughter was joyful and very contagious. And his stories were truly captivating.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Hood Sr., his mother, Kate Hood, and his brother Arthur Jr. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Velma, and siblings, Wilson, Ruby, and Dorothy.
Children, Monique, Andre, Juan, Anthony, Marcellus, Javon, Sheilon (Rachel), and Jameal.
Juan was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren. Five great grandchildren,in-laws, Charles Robinson Sr., (Rose) and Patricia Robinson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
