Keith Douglas Obituary

Keith Douglas was born January 13, 1956, in Rochester, N.Y. to Willie Huitt (deceased) and Essie Mae Terrell (deceased).

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathleen Douglas, His sisters Francine Burney, Sheila Douglas and brother Willie Huitt, Jr., all of Rochester, NY.  6 Children, Damon Vaden and Korinne Young (Luke Holcomb) [children of Kathleen Douglas), Phylecia Jenkins (Ron Jenkins), Kashana Jones (Sean Jones) [daughters of Janice Douglas], Ebony Masire [daughter of Terry Burgess], James Dorsey [son of Dr. Phyllis Moss], 18 grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends whom he loved dearly.

Keith is preceded in death by his sisters, Freddie Mae Lightbourn, Annie Ruth Murray, Flora Chaney, Peggy Erskine, and Loell Douglas, of Rochester, N.Y.

Keith enlisted in the army in 1973 serving during the Vietnam era where he earned an honorable discharge.  Electronics was always his passion.  He knew this from the time he was a young child.  During and after he completed his time in the military, he pursued a career in electronics and graduated and received a degree from Bates Technical College. He worked for companies like Saxton Business Products and AT&T until he finally landed his dream job at Boeing. During his tenure at Boeing, he worked on special projects like Peace Shield as well as many more technical positions within Boeing. Later, his career at Boeing changed direction and he took on a position as a cyber security network analyst until he retired in 2016 after 36 years.

Previously, Keith was a long-time member of the Martin Luther King Memorial Baptist Church and recently re-united with his MLK church family.

Keith was also a 3rd Degree Master Mason which he was extremely proud of. Being a Mason meant that he took an Oath for life and maintained it for life.

One of the things Keith loved the most was his family, He embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in his care for his wife, children and grandchildren and countless others.

Keith was big hearted and vibrant, and radiated light to all. He accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile. He had immense passion for displaying love for everyone. When he approaches you, he would always approach you with a hug and a smile. He made everyone feel loved no matter what.

His departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him deeply.

Do not be sad for his departure from earth for the Lord has promised us all a place in His Kingdom for those who seek him.
