Lynette Jackson Tate Obituary

Lynette Jackson Tate was born on July 6, 1946 in Seattle Washington to Obie Tate Sr and Inez Walden, the oldest of seven children. Lynette was affectionately known to her grandchildren and all of their friends as Nanare.

Lynette graduated as a Garfield High School Bulldog in Seattle, WA in 1964. She received her Bachelor of Arts and continued to work toward her master's degree from City University. While living in Texas and pursuing her BA, she pledged Delta Sigma Theta, where she gained her love for elephants and red nails.

Lynette worked at a host of jobs throughout her career. She especially enjoyed working at Puget Power (Puget sound energy), IBEW Local 77, Seattle School district (counselor), Fred Meyers and most recently American Corporate Security where she not only had great coworkers, but gained a whole new family that she loved dearly.

Lynette married Willie Jackson in 1966 and to that union Kimberly and Christopher were born.

Lynette loved life, lived it to its fullest, and was always the best part of a party. If she was in the room, you knew it very quickly and came home with a story, guaranteed. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, shopping, singing, bowling, spending time with her children, grandchildren and especially her great granddaughter, Kimaya. Lynette loved the Lord immensely and served Him well in her everyday life. She attended Walker Chapel AME church for many years where she was a Stewardess and recently attended The Church by the Side of the Road and ran the bookstore with her gorgeous smile and infectious laugh. To know her was to love her and she made you feel like you'd been hers your whole life. She even became a lay minister to perform marriages locally and be a part of beautiful unions to spread even more love in the world. She enjoyed traveling with family and making memories as often as possible. The gatherings will never be the same.

The Lord called Lynette home on October 29, 2021. She was preceded in death by Obie Tate, Sr. (father), Anthel and Inez Walden (parents), Ronald Tate (brother) and Christopher Jackson (son).

She is survived by daughter, Kimberly Howard (Delman son-in-law), grandchildren; Kimaria Howard-Lewis, Kianna Lewis, Dominick Lewis, Tre Larson, Larissa Jackson, Izzy Jackson, great granddaughter, Kimaya Lewis Ealy, her beloved pet Ozzy, siblings Eddie Tate, Diane Matthews, Karen Tate, Donald Tate and Obie Tate, Jr. (Helen Sister-in-law), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
