Obituary

Marvin Leon Dixon was born October 23, 1948, to the union of Willie Dixon and Ethel Mae Daniels (Dixon) in Marshall, Texas. While being raised by his grandmother Parlie Mae Denson “Ma Pearl”, he accepted Christ at an early age at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas.

Marvin started his formal education in Marshall, Texas attending Five Notch, and New Town Grade Schools. He was a proud graduate of H.B. Pemberton High School, class of 1967.  He also attended Texas Southern University and the University of Washington.

He had a love for baseball, and while preparing for his professional career, his nation called him to serve. He served in the United States Marine Corps and fought for his country in Vietnam. He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for over 38 years.

Upon returning from his deployment in 1971 to Seattle, he met Patricia Scott. From first sight he told his best friend that she would be his wife one day. They married in 1975 and had 47 blessed and wonderful years together. From this union, Erin, Yolanda, Dominic and Edwin were born.

Marvin rededicated his life to Christ in 1981 at the Greater Glory Church of God in Christ. He served as an usher, and worked in his Local, District and State Jurisdiction. Later he united with the Carrie House Church of God in Christ and served there until God called him home.

Marvin loved his family, cooking and barbecuing. He also enjoyed adventuring on family road trips and could be found at ANY Domino Table. He loved spending time with his Aunt Hazel Harris and His greatest joy of all was taking a trip down memory lane and telling stories to ALL WHO WOULD LISTEN.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Grandmother Pearlie Mae Denson, Stepfather John Hedspeth, Uncle Franklin Alexander and Sisters Willia “Sally” Bennett, Margaret “Patsy” Dixon.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his Wife Patricia Dixon, Children: Erin (Markisha) Dixon, Yolanda Dixon, Dominic Dixon, and Edwin (Lluvia) Dixon.
