Mother Loretta McCarty Obituary

Loretta McCarty passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Loretta (Knauls) McCarty was born to the late Governor and Gladys Knauls on October 25th, 1939 in Huntington, Arkansas. She was the youngest of 7 children. In1949, after the passing of her father, she moved to Seattle, Washington with her mother and sister. Within a few months, they found their lifelong church home at Madison Temple Church of God in Christ where she was an active member until her passing.

Loretta graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle, WA in 1957. Shortly after graduating - she met and married the love of her life, George P. McCarty. Traveling during their early years of marriage, a result of George’s Navy service, Loretta spent most of her time in church. It was in her beloved church where she spread her love, served faithfully, and developed lifelong friendships. After George retired from the Navy in 1969, he and Loretta settled back in Washington. They started a family, welcoming two amazing sons Jason and Jonathan - each an answered prayer. Holding nothing back, Loretta poured her heart into her family. Her caring nature was also shared with the many children she took care of throughout her life. God, in His faithfulness, blessed Loretta to live with all of her grandchildren - allowing her to pour into and pray for each of them. Loretta’s passions for cooking, baking and singing were an expression of her love that she shared willingly, but she kept the family recipes close to her chest. Loretta’s quick wit and sense of humor brought joy to many and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 63 years, George McCarty, Her sons Jason (Heather) McCarty, Jonathan (Tammara) McCarty; Her grandchildren Jonathan, Jr., Nakiya, Nakayla, Joy and Josiah; Her sisters Nell Ware, Gladine Gray, Lilly Knauls; Her brother Paul Knauls, and a whole host of nieces and nephews.
