Reco Yudane Rowe was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on December 8, 1967 to John Leslie and Sallie Marie Jacobs-Rowe. Reco was the youngest of the two children.
Reco grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina where he attended church and sang in the Love is God Youth Choir. Reco graduated from Goldsboro High School IN 1986 and later moved to Washington State to attend and graduate from Washing State University in 1991 with a full scholarship to play basketball and earn a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Reco worked for Washington State of Department of Corrections for the past 31 years – he was well respected and loved by so many he came encounter with – Reco was an amazing Supervisor – he did not want to be called “Boss”. He treated his colleagues and staff with dignity and respect.
Reco always looked forward to the “Guys Annual 920 Trip) where they would pick a city to visit and hang out and have guy time. Reco cherished his 920 friends that soon became his brothers for life. There were many times Reco would look at his cell phone and laugh -Carlena would ask – what happened – Reco would say “its 920” and the they things they say to each other would make Reco laugh. Reco also had a bonus brother Dwight “DJ” – Reco can count on DJ anytime they had a unbreakable bond and another bonus brother is Tyrone – Tyrone made sure Reco had the best natural foods and information to help with his journey.
Reco loved to play and watch basketball and was amazing shooter (left-handed). Reco played in many tournaments around the state of Washington. Reco coached boys’ basketball at Todd Beamer High School and Garfield High School along with Winston (They would say – you cannot have Winston without Reco and Reco without Winston to coach). They went on to be successful at Todd Beamer High School by going to State Championship tournament.
Reco also became a Mentor to so many along with Winston and the Game of Life Mentorship. Reco gained so many that looked up to him as a positive, mentor, smart, educated, calm role model. Reco was very serious when it came to basketball – when the kids will win a game and they would celebrate on the court – Reco would look at them – point his hand to the locker room – and let the kids know – you won a game – you need to act like you are supposed to win. Reco was all about “Defense” in his style of coaching.
Reco met his wife Carlena through Winston and Lattice -friends that would get together for different outings, and they would make sure Reco and Carlena would be in the same place. It was until Carlena was shopping at Nordstroms and saw Winston, Reco and friend Scott were there and then Reco showed interest in Carlena.
Reco and Carlena started dating October 10, 2005 and later married on March 26, 2010. Reco loved his wife there was nothing he wouldn’t do for her – he did learn that he would have an expensive wife – but he made her happy with his pure love, his gentle kindness and respect he had for her. Reco knew Carlena loved him for who he was -she would always put Reco first and no matter what – she made sure he was always ok.
Reco was very special to so many.
Reco was called home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2026, with his wife by his side. Reco never complained about anything.
Reco was proceeded in death by his father John Leslie Rowe, Uncle Ralph Barnes Sr, Uncle Hugh V Jacobs, Apostle Dennis R Jacobs, Aunt Rosemary Jacobs-Sherard, Aunt Brenda Jacobs-Reid.
