Sherry Jackson Obituary

Obituary for Sherry Lynn Jackson

Sherry Lynn Jackson was born on November 3, 1955, in Hollandale, Mississippi, to her loving mother, Mary Jackson-Winters, and her father, James Daniel Winters, who preceded her in death. She departed this life on February 9, 2026.

A woman of unwavering faith, Sherry loved the Lord and believed deeply in putting God first. Outspoken, bold, and funny, Sherry had a personality you could never forget. Her presence filled a room, and her personality left a lasting imprint on everyone she met.  Her strength, confidence, and authenticity were matched only by her generous heart.

Sherry had a deep love for people, especially the children she served as an Intervention Specialist with Seattle Public Schools from 1995 to 2003. Demonstrating her commitment to growth and learning, she later returned to school and graduated from Renton Technical College in 2005.  She was also known for her impeccable style — always beautifully dressed, hair done, nails polished, handbag perfectly chosen, and shoes that completed the look. But her most beautiful quality was not what she wore — it was how she loved.

Family was the center of Sherry’s world. She loved her children fiercely and took immense pride in the family she helped build. She leaves to cherish her memory her eldest son, Mandel Jackson (Marty); her youngest son, Tavon Jackson (Nicolle); her adopted son, Dwayne Alexander (Yolanda) and her youngest child and only daughter, Leah Hunter-Black (Kevin).

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren: Marquis Jackson, Miracle Patu-Jackson, Markell Jackson, Mahira Patu-Jackson, Essence Daley (Delroy), Dwayne Alexander Jr., Tazhane Blue, Takiya Blue, Tayden Blue, Tavon Jackson Jr., Tayva Smith, Native Schnyder, Nature Schnyder, Thyme Jackson, and Malaya Brown. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Mahkai Jackson and Mi’Amor Jackson, who also brought her great joy and pride.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her beloved siblings: Gaynell Jackson (Willie), Ricky Jackson, Rosalyn Jackson, Terrence Winters, and Darren Winters. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gary Jackson, Eric Winters, Kelvin Winters, and Andrew Winters Sr.

Sherry treasured her friendships deeply and was blessed with lifelong bonds. She shared a special sisterhood with her best friend, Diane King, her childhood friend, Sheila Southward, and her dear friend, Juanita Robinson. Their love and laughter were a meaningful part of her life.

Sherry’s legacy is one of faith, strength, laughter, and unconditional love. Her bold spirit, wisdom, and unforgettable laugh will continue to live on through the generations she nurtured. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7–8
