Shirley Mae Wilson Mayo, a devoted mother, beloved grandmother, cherished sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, warmth, and enduring love. Born on March 15, 1939, to Charlie and Lela Wilson, Shirley illuminated the lives of everyone she met with her giving heart and spirited personality.
A true enthusiast of life, Shirley found joy in embracing color and style in everything she did. She had a passion for sewing, decorating, and fashion, often expressing her vibrant spirit through her creative wardrobe. Her love for music and dancing kept her youthful and light on her feet, and she could always be found searching for unique treasures while thrifting for antiques. She nurtured beauty around her, finding immense pleasure in the blooming life of her beloved flowers and plants. A little excitement was always welcomed, and she enjoyed her time at the casino.
Shirley attended Bailey Gatzert Elementary, Washington Middle School, and Garfield High School before graduating from Pacific High School. She applied her talent for aesthetics professionally during her seven years at the Hilton downtown Seattle, where she worked diligently as a decorator and housekeeper. In her leisure time, she was often entertained by her favorite shows, including Judge Judy, classic game shows, professional wrestling, captivating Latino soap operas, and the timeless comedy of The Golden Girls and The Three Stooges. She also loved staying current with the latest trends via QVC and HSN.
Above all, Shirley’s defining trait was her deep love for her family and her genuine caring and giving heart. She dedicated her life to her loved ones, creating countless happy memories that will be treasured forever.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Wilson; her mother, Lela Wilson; her sisters Sarah Wilson-Smith, Frances Davis-Miller and Thelma Addison; her two sons Bruce Williams Sr and Michael Williams; Nephew Frank Earl Varnado, her granddaughter Deborah Greenwood; her two grandsons Antron Lewis and Michael Davis-Williams Jr.
She is survived by her loving sister, Charlene Wilson Ferguson of Seattle, WA. Children; Stephen Williams, Rabel Williams and her only daughter Angela Williams. She also leaves behind a devoted family of Grandchildren; Bruce Jr. Williams, Angela Lewis, Ashely Williams, Mikela Williams, Mikesha Davis-Williams, Kwan Kong (“KK” )Williams, and Khalon Williams; Great-Grandchildren Damarion Scott, Alivia Scott, Jamariantre’ Brown-Lewis, Madison Perkins, Antron Lewis Jr., Jayshawn Williams, Jayce Williams, Kingston Williams, Maksim Williams, Gabrielle Williams, Malakai Wagner, and Jae King Rance ,along with a host of nieces ,nephews and extended family including the Wilson, Lewis, Tyson and Ballard family to cherish her memory .
