Thaddeus Hollingsworth was born in Winnfield, Louisiana, on August 9, 1954, to the late Stamper Hollingsworth and Mamie Lue Childs Hollingsworth of Calvin, Louisiana. He was the 10th of thirteen children. Known to his siblings as Mo Blake and friends as Thad, he attended Union Hill Elementary School and graduated from Calvin High School. He was a standout basketball player in high school and was known for being a leader and showing his great skills on the court. He joined Union Hill Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age.
After graduating from high school, he moved to Seattle, WA where he joined his siblings.
He was formerly employed as a security guard at Chase Bank. For the past 12 years, he was employed as a bus driver for First Student Transportation and safely transported numerous Seattle Public School students.
Thad had an easy-going personality. In his free time, Thad enjoyed playing BINGO, and every two years, he looked forward to taking trips back to Winnfield, LA with his brother Bobby to visit family and school friends. He looked forward to retiring next year and moving back to his hometown to live.
Thad departed this life on June 3, 2024, at Harborview Hospital in Seattle, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents; Stamper and Mamie Lue Hollingsworth, sisters; Ruby Jones, Shirley Awofeso, and Opal Woods, brothers; Roy and Nathaniel Hollingsworth, and granddaughter; Essence Madden.
He is survived by his five children - daughters; Erica Hill (Edgar) and Asalie Groff, and sons; Eldon Madden (Tina), Thaddeus Hollingsworth, and Malcom Hollingsworth: His grandchildren; Anthony Abron, Nathaniel Hollingsworth, Ariana Madden, Zayla Madden, Eldon Madden, Danaja Hollingsworth, Thaddeus Hollingsworth, Dontavius Hollingsworth, Jolani Hollingsworth, Curtis Hollingsworth, Cecelia Hollingsworth, Darius Hollingsworth, Malcom Hollingsworth, Jr., Emma Hollingsworth, and Angel Hollingsworth: 5 great-grandchildren; Sydney, Saige, and Saiyr Abron, Ri’yan and Raelynn Hollingsworth: His longtime girlfriend Sophia Benitz: His siblings – brothers; Earl M. Hollingsworth (Eddie Mae) of Federal Way, WA and Bobby J. Hollingsworth (Charolette) of Seattle, WA, sisters; Annie Stinger of Fife, WA, Johnnie Mae O’Conn of Natchitoches, LA, Caroline Hollingsworth of Puyallup, WA, Mittie Hollingsworth of Fife, WA, and Myrtle Faye McDaniel of West Seattle, WA and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
