Ulavor was Born in Dubach, Louisiana, To Sammie Littleton and Elizabeth Frost. She attended school in Dubach, Louisiana and excelled in Basketball at Lincoln High School. She accepted christ and was baptized in Dubach at Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Jim Harris. Sis. Lewis as she was affectionately called, married Quincy Lewis September 10, 1956 and to this union 4 children were born. Sis. Lewis was well known for infectious spirit and undying desire to Praise God every chance she got and tell someone about Jesus. Her desire was for every person on this earth to have an opportunity to try Jesus and she was going to do her part. Sis. Lewis obtained several degrees from United Theological Seminary and Bible College with her latest degree being a PHD in Counseling. Sis. Lewis was a founding member of Beacon Light Baptist Church which was later renamed Beacon Hill 1st Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Robert Houston PHD and was still a faithful member serving under Pastor Calvin May. Sis. Lewis loved her church family and you could always find her on the second row dancing and praising God and was well known for the " Lewis Shuffle". Sis. Lewis sang in the choir, was a choir director and a sunday school teacher. You could always count on Sis. Lewis to correct you in love, and has taught so many women countless life lessons of living holy and for the Lord, saving yourself for your husband, and protecting your good stuff. Sis. Lewis served as the president of the Deaconess Ministry at Beacon Hill for over 30 years. Sis. Lewis was also known for her outstanding abilities in the kitchen and you could find greens and hot water cornbread on her stove every single day of the week. Sis. Lewis worked at Garfield High School in the Cafeteria for over 30 years and was currently still employed there.
Sis. Lewis slipped away on Mother’s Day in true Sis. Lewis form on her terms and is reunited with her beloved Quincy.
Sis. Lewis was preceded in death by both Parents, 5 siblings, and her husband of 60 years Deacon Quincy Lewis. She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons Dwight, Rodney, and Joseph Lewis and 1 daughter Crystal Lewis. Adopted daughters Teresa Sutton, Barbara Touya, and Nikisha Richardson ( Henri), 2 Grandchildren Jemica Florence ( Charron) and Devon Lewis. 9 sisters Maurice Washington Grambling, LA, Bobbi Daye (Clarence) Minden, LA, Pamela Madison Dallas, Texas, Vera Bivens (Jerry) Texas City, TX , Rachel Littleton Lamar, TX Bertha Roane Los Angeles, CA, Minnie Mayfield Chicago, IL , Katie Calloway Ruston, LA, Mavis Hayes Phoenix, AZ, 6 brothers JR Richards ( Lola) Gilm Richards ( Modie), Lamar Richards (Arlene) Jimmy Littleton, James Littleton, George Littleton (Cassandra) Anthony Proctor ( Ida) all of Texas, 3 Sisters in Law Clara Houston (Robert), Alverne Hill ( Julius ) Vera Jackson ( Alma), Several Godchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and church family.
