William (Bill) passed away peacefully from complications of dementia the morning of January 25, 2024, at home after a short hospital stay. William (Bill) was born in Yazoo City, MS. The family moved to Mobile, AL when he was a young boy. He lived there until he joined the Navy at 17 years old and moved to California. In California he met Lorraine Herron and they were married for 24 years before her passing in 1983. They had five children and when the children were young they moved to Seattle. William (Bill) was proud to be a bus driver before he retired in 1999. In 2001, he moved back to Alabama to care for his mother. After his mother passed away, he requested to move back to Seattle to live in “an old folks home” and to be near his children and grandchildren.
William (Bill) is survived by his uncle James Cocroft and siblings Nathaniel Anderson and Deborah Brooks. He is also survived by his six children (and spouses) Charmaine Franklin, Patrice, Denise Perry (Joseph Sr.), Tanya, Jackie and Jeffrey; nephews Minister Harvey Irvin and LaMar Anderson, niece Regina Anderson and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Lorraine Anderson, mother Ruth Cocroft Williams, father John William Anderson and brother Lester Jackson.
